Grade selection basics
Seco grades, like every carbide manufacturer's, are classified under the ISO 513 application system: P (steel), M (stainless), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous), S (heat-resistant superalloys and titanium) and H (hardened steel). A grade's letter tells you the material family it's built for — matching that to your actual workpiece is the single biggest factor in tool life. AIMS's most-stocked SECO turning grades are TP25 (general-purpose, P/M zone) and HX (S-group, heat-resistant alloys); the most-stocked milling grade is F40M, used across both the Octomill and Turbo 12 ranges.
