Industrial Vibratory Equipment for Material Handling

Industrial vibratory equipment uses controlled vibration to handle, move, separate, compact, and discharge bulk materials in processing, mining, manufacturing, and food production applications. Vibratory technology is valued for gentle handling of fragile materials, low maintenance requirements compared to mechanical conveyors with sliding or rolling contact, safe spark-free operation using pneumatic drives in explosive atmosphere locations, and flexibility across a wide range of bulk material types. AIMS stocks industrial vibratory equipment and components from leading manufacturers for bulk material handling applications across Australian industry.

Electric and Pneumatic Vibrators

Electric vibrators use an eccentric mass on a motor shaft to generate centrifugal vibration forces. They are the standard choice for continuous-duty applications where reliable electrical supply is available and variable force control through motor speed is advantageous. Pneumatic vibrators are preferred in ATEX explosion-hazard environments, in locations without electrical supply, and where variable force through simple air pressure adjustment is preferred over electronic speed control. Both types are available as externally mounted units that transmit vibration into the equipment structure through mounting brackets and pads designed to maximise energy transfer into the bin wall rather than dissipating it into the mounting structure.

Vibratory Feeders and Conveyors

Vibratory feeders provide controlled, metered flow of bulk material from bins and silos to downstream process equipment. Vibration moves material along the feeder trough at a rate determined by vibration amplitude and frequency, which can be varied for precise flow rate control. Electromagnetic vibratory feeders offer the finest control and are common in batching and weighing applications. Unbalanced motor feeders handle high-volume bulk material discharge where precise metering is less critical. Vibratory conveyors transport material horizontally or on shallow inclines without the dust, noise, and maintenance of conventional belt conveyors — particularly advantageous in dusty and abrasive material handling environments.

Bin Vibrators and Flow Aids

Bin-mounted vibrators solve the common problem of material bridging, arching, and wall adhesion in hoppers and silos. Correct placement in the active zone of the bin — typically the lower hopper section — combined with force output matched to the bin and material weight provides reliable, consistent discharge. Over-vibrating with excessive force can cause material compaction rather than flow promotion in cohesive powders. Timer-controlled vibration cycles limit running time to when it is actually needed, extend vibrator service life, and prevent this compaction effect in sensitive bulk materials.
