Shaft Couplings & Drive Couplings
AIMS Industrial stocks a comprehensive range of shaft couplings and coupling components from Finer Power Transmissions and KCP. From flexible jaw couplings for motor-to-gearbox connections through to rigid split clamp couplings and gear couplings for high-torque shaft joining, we carry the coupling types most commonly specified in Australian industry.
Jaw Couplings
Flexible jaw couplings are the most widely used coupling type in general industry, accommodating angular, radial and axial misalignment while damping vibration and shock between driving and driven machines. Available in metric and imperial bore configurations. Spider (element) materials include NBR nitrile rubber for standard duty, polyurethane for higher torque and reduced backlash, Hytrel for demanding combined shock and torsional applications, and snap wrap elements for quick replacement without dismounting hubs. Curved jaw coupling halves are available in stepped and full pilot bore configurations.
HRC Couplings
HRC pin-and-bush flexible couplings offer higher torque capacity than jaw types and are widely used on pumps, fans and general machinery. Available in flange taper lock (Type F) and hub taper lock (Type H) configurations. Elements are supplied in nitrile rubber and polyurethane for different service requirements.
Cone Ring & Flexible Tyre Couplings
Cone ring couplings (pin and conical rubber ring) provide flexible connection with good vibration damping. Flexible tyre couplings in synthetic construction handle misalignment and shock in medium-duty applications where the characteristic rubber tyre element provides progressive damping.
Gear & Chain Couplings
Curved tooth gear couplings with nylon sleeve handle high torque and accommodate some misalignment for heavy industrial shaft connections. Chain couplings in straight bore with cover provide simple, robust connection for medium torque applications and are easy to maintain in the field.
KCP Taper Grid Couplings
KCP taper grid couplings provide high torque capacity with vibration damping through a spring grid element. Available in horizontal split aluminium cover configurations with separate hub and grid element components, taper grid couplings suit high-torque pumps, compressors and general industrial drives.
Rigid & FRAS Couplings
Split rigid clamp couplings in one-piece and two-piece designs in black oxide finish are used where precise shaft alignment is maintained and no flexibility is required. FRAS (Fire Resistant Anti-Static) flexible couplings are available for underground mining and hazardous area applications where standard rubber compounds are not acceptable.
