Laser Distance Measurers

Laser distance measurers provide fast, single-person measurement of distances from under a metre to 100 metres or more with accuracy typically in the range of ±1–2mm. A laser dot is directed at the target surface and the device calculates distance from the reflected signal's return time. Measuring Wheels

Accuracy Considerations

Laser measurers achieve their rated accuracy on flat, perpendicular surfaces in normal lighting. Accuracy degrades on translucent or highly reflective surfaces (glass, polished metal) and at very long ranges in bright sunlight where the laser dot becomes difficult to see. For indoor measurement in standard conditions, a mid-range laser measurer from a quality brand is accurate to the published specification. For critical survey or setting-out work, understanding the instrument's limitations and verifying against a known reference is good practice. Most laser measurers carry a stated accuracy of ±1–2mm across the measurement range.
