Hand brushes and wire brushes are everyday workshop tools for weld cleaning, surface preparation, rust removal, parts cleaning, and flux removal. • Steel Wire Brushes: Carbon steel wire hand brushes for weld spatter removal, rust scale, and general surface preparation. Available in straight and curved-handle configurations. The standard workshop wire brush for post-weld cleaning between passes and at completion.
• Stainless Steel Wire Brushes: Stainless steel wire brushes for use on stainless steel and aluminium weldments — carbon steel wire contaminates stainless and aluminium surfaces with embedded iron particles that cause rust staining. Stainless steel brushes must be used on stainless weld cleaning to maintain corrosion resistance.
• Brass Wire Brushes: Brass wire brushes for non-sparking environments, electrical contacts, and soft metal surfaces. Brass is used in ATEX/hazardous area environments where steel wire striking a hard surface could generate a spark. Also preferred for cleaning bearing surfaces and precision components where steel wire would scratch.
• Parts Cleaning Brushes: Nylon and bristle parts cleaning brushes for cleaning machined surfaces, threaded fasteners, cooling fins, and precision components where wire would cause surface damage. Available in multiple stiffness grades for cleaning without abrasion.
• Long-Handle & Bottle Brushes: Extended handle brushes and bottle brushes for cleaning the inside of tubes, pipe bores, heat exchanger tubes, and hydraulic components where a standard hand brush cannot reach the internal surface.

Wire Brush Selection Guide

• Material Contamination — Critical for Stainless & Aluminium: This is the single most important selection consideration. Welding and fabrication shops should maintain separate stainless-only wire brushes — a brush used on carbon steel must never be used on stainless weld joints. Mark brushes by material to prevent cross-contamination.
• Wire Gauge and Fill Density: Heavier wire gauge and denser fill provides more aggressive abrasive action for heavy rust or weld spatter. Finer wire gauge is preferred for flux removal and general cleaning on painted or coated surfaces where heavy wire would damage the base coating.
• Handle Ergonomics: Ergonomic handle design reduces hand fatigue in high-volume cleaning tasks. Look for brushes with a moulded or wooden handle that provides a secure grip in oily or wet hands.
