Plier Spares and Accessories
Quality pliers earn their place through years of service — but even the best brands eventually need replacement tips, fresh jaw inserts, or specialist adapters that extend their use into new applications. AIMS Industrial stocks plier spares and accessories for the brands we supply (Wiha, Bahco, Stahlwille), letting you keep proven tools in service rather than replace them when one component wears or breaks.
What's in the spares range
- Replacement plier tips and jaws — for snap-ring pliers (internal and external), specialty grips, and brand-specific designs that support tip replacement
- Crimp die inserts — interchangeable dies for crimping pliers covering different terminal types and sizes
- Wire stripper inserts — replaceable cutting elements for wire strippers
- Jaw protector covers — soft covers that prevent jaw marking on finished surfaces
- Holders and storage — wall hangers, tool rolls, and case inserts for organised storage
- Adapters and accessories — extension handles, ratchet adapters, and brand-specific accessories
Why replace parts instead of the whole tool
A quality plier body — the steel, joint, and handle assembly — typically outlasts the tip or insert by a wide margin. Replacing only the wear part keeps the proven part in service, costs significantly less than a new tool, and avoids the breakdown of a broken-in tool that fits the user's hand. For pliers used daily, the spares route is usually the right one.
Compatibility — match by brand and model
Plier spares are tool-specific. A snap-ring plier tip from one brand won't usually fit another brand's pliers; a crimp die from one ratcheting crimper won't fit a different model. Bring us the brand and model of the plier (or the existing worn part), and we'll match the right replacement. For brands not in our standing range, we can often source through distribution channels.
Snap-ring tip replacement
Snap-ring (circlip) pliers commonly have replaceable tips because the small precision tips are the part that wears or bends in service. Most quality brands sell tip sets covering the common pin sizes (typically 1.0mm, 1.3mm, 1.8mm, 2.5mm). Replacement is usually a simple matter of unscrewing the worn tip and threading in the new one. Keep a small set of replacement tips with the pliers — sometimes the right tip in the right moment saves a job.
Crimp die selection
Crimping pliers with interchangeable dies are flexible because the same tool body handles different terminal types. Common die profiles include insulated terminals (red, blue, yellow standard sizes), uninsulated terminals, ferrules, coaxial, and specialty crimps. Match the die profile and size to the terminal — using the wrong die produces poor crimps that fail in service.
Care extends spare life
Plier spares last longer when the parent tool is looked after. Wipe coolant and oil from joints before storing. Apply a drop of light machine oil to pivot points periodically. Don't use pliers as pry bars or hammers — that's how tips break and joints crack. Treating pliers as precision tools (which they are) means spares get years of service rather than months.
