Choosing a replaceable drill tip
The variant name carries the series, the diameter and the geometry letter. For example, SD100-10.00-P is a Crownloc tip, 10.00 in diameter, in Crown P geometry. Work in this order: confirm the drill body family (Crownloc or Crownloc Plus), match the tip diameter to the body, then choose the geometry for your material. Tips from the two families are not interchangeable, so do not mix them. The Crownloc Plus Crown P listing is titled for steel, and for the other geometries we will confirm the material match for you. What is a replaceable drill tip?
It is the cutting tip that fits into the pocket of an exchangeable tip drill body. When the tip wears you change the tip and keep the body, which is why these systems suit production drilling.
What is the difference between SD100 and SD400 tips?
The SD100 tips are listed as Crownloc and the SD400 tips as Crownloc Plus. They suit different drill body families, so match the tip series to your body before ordering.
What do the P, M and K in the tip names mean?
They are the Crown geometry designations. The Crownloc Plus Crown P listing is titled for steel. For the others, send us the material you are drilling and we will confirm the right geometry.
How do I read the size in a variant name?
The number between the series and the geometry letter is the tip diameter. SD100-10.00-P, for example, is a 10.00 diameter Crownloc tip in Crown P geometry.
