Choosing cones and barriers
Start with the job. Cones suit quick, temporary marking, and taller or reflective cones are easier to see, especially in low light. Retractable belt systems suit queues and walkways where you want a tidy line, and expanding barriers suit moving a boundary quickly. Barricade tape marks an area cheaply but does not hold anyone back. Bollards and stands suit longer-term marking in a fixed position.

What cone height do I need?
We list cones from 450 mm to 900 mm. Taller cones are easier to see from a distance, so choose the height to suit the area and the speed of traffic. Check your site traffic plan or the road authority requirements for road work.
Do you have reflective cones?
Yes. We list reflective versions of the Brady value cone and the Frontier cone. Reflective cones help in low light.
What is the difference between a retractable barrier and an expanding barrier?
A retractable belt barrier pulls out from a post or wall unit across a gap and retracts when you are done, and it suits queues and walkways. An expanding barrier folds out to form a freestanding barrier, and it suits moving a boundary quickly. Both are visual guides.
Is barricade tape enough to stop people entering an area?
No. Tape marks an area but does not hold anyone back. Use fencing or hard barriers where you need real separation.
