OSI VP275 Multi-Purpose Clear Silicone Sealant, 295ml
Available
OSI VP275 is a one-part, low modulus, neutral curing silicone sealant from Henkel's OSI Sealants range. It cures at room temperature by reaction with moisture in the air, and the manufacturer states a joint movement capability of ±50 %.
Henkel says it was formulated for vinyl products in the siding and window industry. The data sheet also lists new construction, remodelling and remedial jobs, renovation work and service and maintenance projects, and states primerless adhesion to most porous and non-porous building materials.
Where this product is used
- Vinyl products in the siding and window industry
- New construction, remodelling and remedial jobs

Selecting the right option
VP275 is a neutral (oxime) cure with ±50 % stated movement, listed by the manufacturer for porous and non-porous building materials. For an acetoxy cure silicone for glazing and curtain wall sealing on non-porous materials, with ±25 % stated movement, see OSI HM270 Construction RTV Silicone Sealant, Clear, 285g.
Using it
The manufacturer lists adhesion to treated or untreated wood, steel, aluminium, brass and some plastics; glass, ceramic tiles, brick, concrete, mortar and most other masonry materials.
Skin, tack-free and cure times depend on temperature, humidity, substrate porosity and sealant depth. The documents we hold give no step-by-step application directions.
Storage and handling
Not damaged by freezing. Keep at or below 27 °C. Shelf life is 24 months from date of manufacture, unopened.
Limits and safety
The data sheet lists these as not recommended: continuous water immersion (swimming pools, boats); horizontal or traffic-bearing joints; totally confined or air-free spaces; green or vulcanised rubber, marble or granite; potable water systems; direct contact with reflective mirror coatings; and applications that need painting. The label carries the warning 'Contains oxime silanes'. The SDS classes it as a skin sensitiser Category 1 (H317, may cause an allergic skin reaction) and serious eye irritation Category 2A (H319), signal word Warning, with a flash point above 93 °C. Section 11 describes it as severely irritating to the eyes. The SDS also warns that sanding or grinding cured material could release respirable silica quartz, a cancer hazard by inhalation; it states normal use causes no such release. It is not classed as Dangerous Goods (ADG, IMDG, IATA). The data sheet does not state ASTM C920 or a movement class for this product. Read the safety data sheet before use.
Frequently asked questions
Is OSI VP275 acetoxy or neutral cure?
Neutral cure. Henkel describes it as a one-part, low modulus, neutral curing silicone sealant. The SDS lists oxime silanes and notes that methyl ethyl ketoxime forms during cure.
What joint movement does VP275 allow?
The data sheet states ±50 % of the original joint width after 14 days. It does not give an ASTM C920 classification for this product.
What temperatures can VP275 be applied and used at?
It is applied between -18 °C and 43 °C. The stated service temperature is -21 °C to 77 °C.
Can VP275 be painted?
No. The data sheet lists applications requiring painting as not recommended.
How long does VP275 take to skin over and cure?
At 23 °C and 50 % RH the data sheet gives a skin time of 5 to 10 minutes, tack-free in under 60 minutes and a cure time of 7 to 14 days. Times depend on temperature, humidity, porosity and depth.
Can VP275 be used on potable water systems or under continuous water immersion?
No. The data sheet lists both as not recommended.
