Sutton M500M26 26 Piece Metric Tap and Die Set - Carbon Steel

The Sutton M500M26 is a 26 piece metric (ISO coarse) tap and die set. It contains 8 taper taps and 8 bottoming taps (one of each per size), 8 button dies, a #0 bar type tap wrench and a 1 inch button die holder. The taps cut internal threads and the button dies cut or clean up external threads on studs and bolts.

The taps and dies are carbon alloy steel for general purpose and DIY use. They are not suitable for precision, safety or critical threads. The set comes in a metal case with a layout chart that shows where each item sits.

Taper taps are used when the material is difficult to work (alloy steel) and are recommended for small diameter threads. Bottoming taps have a continuous cutting edge with almost no taper and are usually used to cut threads to the bottom of a blind hole.
