1/2" Loc-Line Assembly Pliers

Loc-Line's modular hose system is built to snap together and pull apart by hand — that's the whole point of the ball-and-socket design. But on a 1/2" system, seating and releasing that joint firmly and repeatedly (setting up a new CNC coolant line, repositioning nozzles during a job change, pulling a segment for a nozzle swap) is hard on your hands and risks cracking the polypropylene ball-and-socket joint if you reach for a generic pair of pliers instead. A proper 1/2" Loc-Line assembly plier is shaped to grip the joint evenly and do the job without damaging it. We've put together a Loc-Line Modular Hose Guide: Sizes, Nozzles & Coolant Delivery if you'd like more detail before you buy.

Why a Dedicated Plier, Not Generic Pliers

Standard workshop pliers grip with a narrow, uneven bite — on a Loc-Line ball joint that means localised pressure that cracks or deforms the housing, especially over repeated use. A Loc-Line assembly plier is shaped to spread the load evenly around the joint so it releases and reseats cleanly, every time. On a machine where nozzle position gets adjusted regularly, that's the difference between a tool that pays for itself and a box of cracked segments.

What AIMS Stocks in 1/2"

This collection carries two options. The Loc-Line 1/2" Hose Assembly Pliers is the dedicated tool for a workshop running only the 1/2" system. The Loc-Line 1/4" and 1/2" Modular Hose Assembly Plier Set is a combination tool for sites running both sizes side by side — one plier instead of two.

Compatibility — Sizes Are Not Interchangeable

This is the one thing to get right before you order: Loc-Line pliers are sized to the joint they're built for, and a 1/2" plier will not seat or release a 1/4" or 3/4" joint correctly. If your workshop runs more than one Loc-Line size, you need pliers to match each — or the 1/4" + 1/2" combination set above if that's your mix. AIMS also stocks 3/4" Loc-Line pliers within our 3/4" Loc-Line Modular Hose System range for sites running the larger, high-flow system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I assemble Loc-Line hose without pliers?

Yes — Loc-Line is designed for hand assembly. Pliers become worthwhile once you're doing it often, on a 1/2" system with a firm joint fit, or where hand fatigue and joint damage from repeated assembly and disassembly are a concern.

Will 1/2" Loc-Line pliers work on my 1/4" or 3/4" hose?

No. Loc-Line pliers are sized to the joint they're built for, and a 1/2" plier will not correctly seat or release a 1/4" or 3/4" joint. Use the matching size for each system, or our 1/4" + 1/2" combination plier set if you run both of those sizes.

What's the difference between the two pliers AIMS stocks in this collection?

The Loc-Line 1/2" Hose Assembly Pliers is a dedicated tool for a 1/2"-only system. The Loc-Line 1/4" and 1/2" Modular Hose Assembly Plier Set is a combination tool that handles both sizes, useful if your workshop runs both.

Can I use regular workshop pliers on Loc-Line joints instead?

We don't recommend it. Generic pliers grip unevenly and can crack or deform the polypropylene ball-and-socket joint, particularly with repeated assembly and disassembly. A Loc-Line assembly plier spreads the load evenly around the joint to avoid that damage.

Does AIMS stock 3/4" Loc-Line pliers too?

Yes. 3/4" Loc-Line pliers are available within our 3/4" Loc-Line Modular Hose System range for workshops running the larger, high-flow 3/4" system.
