Modular Hose Systems

A modular coolant hose system is a snap-together flexible hose that lets the operator aim coolant exactly where the tool is cutting. Each segment ball-and-socket connects to the next, so the hose holds its position when bent, comes apart and reassembles in seconds, and can be repaired by swapping a damaged segment instead of replacing the whole run. AIMS Industrial stocks modular hose systems in the three standard sizes for machine tool coolant, lubrication, and air delivery applications.

The three standard sizes

  • 1/4 inch — small-diameter hose for precision applications, light coolant flow, and air-blast nozzles
  • 1/2 inch — the all-rounder for CNC mills, drills, and surface grinders — handles most workshop coolant volumes
  • 3/4 inch — heavy-duty hose for higher coolant volumes, larger machine tools, and high-pressure delivery

Sizes don't interconnect — choose one diameter for the system and match all hose, nozzles, and accessories to it.

Why modular hose works

  • Reaim without tools — operator adjusts the nozzle as the cut moves
  • Repair by segment — swap a damaged section in seconds
  • Multi-nozzle setups — manifolds split one supply into multiple streams
  • Nozzle versatility — round, flat, drum, and high-pressure tips on the same hose
  • Coolant, oil, or air — the system handles flood coolant, mist, and compressed air equally

System or kit?

Hose, nozzles, and connectors are stocked as singles for spec-specific replacement, and as starter kits for new machines or fitouts. A typical kit covers a hose run, several nozzle types, and the connector hardware — enough to get a single coolant outlet operational.

Loc-Line and compatible

Loc-Line is the most common modular hose brand in Australian workshops, and we stock the genuine Loc-Line range. Compatible hose and accessories interoperate across most modular systems within the same size — useful for keeping costs down on replenishment.

Coolant, oil, or compressed air

Modular hose handles all three media within the hose's pressure rating. Flood coolant at typical pump pressures (1-3 bar) is well within range for any of the three sizes. Oil-based cutting fluids are also fine — the hose material doesn't degrade in the way a rubber hose does. Compressed air is supported up to the rated pressure of the system; check the spec for the size you're using before connecting to a workshop air line. For high-pressure through-spindle coolant systems running 30+ bar, look at purpose-built high-pressure hose rather than the standard modular range.

Length and run length

Hose runs are sold by the length. A typical machine tool installation uses 200-400mm of hose from the coolant outlet to the nozzle; a longer reach calls for a longer run plus a mid-run support clamp to stop the hose drooping. Modular sections are easy to add or trim — buy slightly long, cut to length, and keep the offcuts for repairs.
