Grinding wheels & wheel dressers

A worn, cracked or glazed grinding wheel affects finish quality and operator safety. AIMS stocks replacement aluminium oxide and silicon carbide grinding wheels in the standard 6" and 8" sizes used on most workshop bench grinders. Maxigear and Linishall wheel dressers restore the cutting face of a glazed wheel — extending wheel life and recovering cutting performance. Always ring-test a new wheel before mounting (per AS 1788.1) and run-up to operating speed behind a guard for 60 seconds before use.

Tool rests, eye shields & safety controls

Tool rests must be adjusted to within 3 mm of the wheel and replaced when worn or damaged — the gap is critical for safe operation and is a common workplace inspection check. Eye shield spares from Abbott & Ashby cover the standard 6" and 8" grinder configurations. On/off switches and emergency-stop buttons for 240 V single-phase grinders are stocked separately — replacing a worn switch is the most common bench grinder maintenance task and a cheap upgrade for older workshop grinders.

Spindles, wire wheels & buffing

Maxigear extension and tapered spindles allow flexibility when fitting wheels with different bore sizes — useful for adapting older grinders to current wheel formats. Wire wheels and buffing mops convert a bench grinder into a deburring and polishing station for stainless, aluminium and steel finishing work.
