Control Nozzles

Control nozzles — including blow guns, air blow-off nozzles, and safety air nozzles — direct compressed air for cleaning, drying, cooling, and debris removal in manufacturing and workshop environments. Selecting the right nozzle type affects both task efficiency and workplace safety: unrestricted high-pressure air against skin can cause fatal air embolism, and many jurisdictions regulate the maximum allowable air pressure for cleaning tasks. Blow Guns

Standard blow guns with a trigger mechanism provide controlled compressed air delivery for workbench cleaning, clearing swarf, drying parts after washing, and general compressed air tasks. The trigger locks out unintentional airflow and allows the operator to direct and stop air without releasing grip. Blow gun extensions and flexible tips improve reach into cavities and complex shapes. Most standard blow guns are limited to the supply line pressure — for workplace compliance in cleaning applications, a pressure-regulated supply at the blow gun station is the correct approach.

Safety Nozzles

Safety blow nozzles are designed so that if the nozzle tip is blocked against a surface (including skin), the air vents sideways rather than building to dangerous pressure at the tip. This design significantly reduces the risk of air injection injury. Safety nozzles are preferred on manufacturing floors and required on some sites as part of their WHS safe work procedures for compressed air tasks. They are available as direct-fit replacements for standard blow gun tips.

Air Amplifier Nozzles

Air amplifier nozzles use the Coandă effect to entrain surrounding air, producing a high-volume, lower-velocity air stream from a small compressed air supply. They deliver several times the volume of a standard nozzle while using less compressed air, reducing compressor load and operating cost. Well suited to drying parts on production lines, cooling applications, and material conveying where a high-volume gentle air stream is more effective than a high-pressure jet.

Variable-Flow Nozzles

Some blow gun nozzles allow airflow adjustment — from a wide fan pattern for area drying to a concentrated jet for targeted cleaning. Variable pattern nozzles reduce the need to change tools between tasks.

Compressed Air Cost and Efficiency

Compressed air is one of the most expensive utilities in a manufacturing facility — the cost per unit of energy delivered is significantly higher than direct electrical drives. Inefficient blow-off nozzles that waste air through unrestricted full-bore flow add meaningfully to compressor running costs. Engineered air nozzles that entrain ambient air reduce compressed air consumption for the same cleaning or drying result.
