Choosing a crow foot spanner
Choose the size to match the fastener across flats, and check the drive size of your wrench against the spanner before ordering. When you use a crow foot spanner on a torque wrench, the extra reach changes the torque at the fastener compared with the wrench setting, so work out the correction before you tighten to a specification. Always check the data sheet for the drive size, length and the torque correction for the exact spanner and extension.

Crow Foot Spanner FAQs
What is a crow foot spanner used for?
It is an open-ended spanner head that fits on a socket wrench or torque wrench, so you can reach fasteners that a socket or ordinary spanner cannot get onto.
Does a crow foot spanner affect torque wrench readings?
Yes. Adding length to the wrench changes the torque applied at the fastener, so the wrench setting needs to be corrected when the spanner or extension is offset from the drive. Check the manufacturer's data for the correction.
What sizes are available?
The Stahlwille metric crow foot spanner is listed in 30 sizes from 8 to 50mm. A 1/2 inch drive extension for crow foot spanners is also listed.
