Cutting Wheel Selection & Safety

• Wheel Specification Matching: Always confirm wheel diameter, bore size, thickness, and maximum RPM match your grinder specifications — exceeding the rated speed causes catastrophic wheel failure and severe injury risk.
• Thin vs. Thick Wheels: Ultra-thin wheels (1.0–1.6mm) maximise cut speed and material removal rate; thicker wheels (2.5–3.5mm) provide more durability for heavy-duty structural cutting and off-centre loading.
• Iron-Free for Stainless: Never use standard mild-steel cutting wheels on stainless or duplex steels — embedded iron particles cause surface rust contamination. Always use iron/chlorine/sulphur-free Pferd Inox wheels for SS applications.
• Wheel Storage & Inspection: Store cutting wheels flat and dry, away from impact and temperature extremes. Inspect each wheel for cracks, chips, or delamination before mounting — never use a damaged cutting wheel.
