How Structural Epoxies Work
Two-part epoxy structural adhesives consist of a resin and a hardener that are mixed in a defined ratio immediately before application. Once mixed, an exothermic chemical reaction begins — the pot life (working time) before the mix gels typically ranges from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on formulation. Full structural strength is typically reached within 24 hours at room temperature.
Loctite Structural Epoxies
Loctite's EA (Epoxy Adhesive) range covers fast-cure and standard-cure formulations for general fabrication, repair and assembly bonding. Loctite EA 9492 and similar systems deliver high tensile and shear strength with gap-filling capability for bonding parts that cannot be machined to a close fit.
