Industrial Filtration

Contamination is the primary cause of premature failure in fluid-power and air-operated systems. Hydraulic systems contaminated with particles fail valves and damage pump internals; compressed air systems carrying moisture corrode air tools and freeze pneumatic actuators in cold conditions; lubricating oil contaminated with metal fines accelerates bearing and gear wear. Industrial filtration removes the contaminants that cause system failures before they reach sensitive components. AIMS Industrial supplies air line filters, hydraulic filter elements, and related filtration products for industrial machinery maintenance.

Compressed Air Line Filters

Air line filters remove water, oil aerosols, and solid particles from compressed air before it reaches pneumatic tools, cylinders, and control equipment. In the FRL (Filter-Regulator-Lubricator) assembly, the filter is the first stage — a coalescing element collects water droplets and oil mist, and a bowl drains accumulated liquid. Standard filters remove particles down to 5 micron; micro-mist filters with coalescing elements remove oil aerosols to 0.01mg/m³ for applications requiring oil-free air (painting, food processing, instrument air). Filter elements must be replaced when the pressure drop across the filter reaches the manufacturer's limit — a blocked filter element starves the downstream equipment of air.

Hydraulic Filter Elements

Hydraulic systems require filtration at the return line, pressure line, and/or offline (kidney loop) depending on the system cleanliness target and the sensitivity of the installed components. Filter elements are rated by micron size (absolute or nominal) and by contamination capacity. The ISO 4406 cleanliness code specifies target contamination levels for hydraulic systems by application — precision servo systems require significantly cleaner oil than general-purpose hydraulic circuits. Replacing filter elements on schedule, and when indicated by bypass indicators, is essential maintenance.

Oil and Fuel Filters

Spin-on and cartridge-type oil filters and fuel filters for compressors, generators, and industrial engines are stocked for maintenance and replacement. Correct filter specification — matching thread, bypass pressure, and filtration rating to the original equipment specification — is critical for engine protection. Preventive Maintenance Practice

Maintaining a stock of replacement filter elements on site is a basic but important preventive maintenance practice. A filter that cannot be replaced because the element is on back order provides no protection to the downstream system while the maintenance is deferred. For contamination-sensitive systems — servo hydraulics, precision pneumatics, and compressed air instrumentation — change filter elements on schedule regardless of the differential pressure indicator. The indicator signals a blocked element but does not account for filter bypass in a degraded or failed element.
