Application Best Practice

Clean both mating faces with a residue-free cleaner such as brake cleaner rather than a general solvent — many solvents leave a thin film behind as they evaporate, which interferes with the sealant's ability to bond and cure against the metal surface. Apply a continuous, unbroken bead around the bolt pattern and sealing perimeter; gaps in the bead are the most common cause of a leak that shows up after assembly. Respect the stated tack-free or fixture time before handling the joint, and the full cure time before pressurising the system or returning the assembly to service — these vary by product, so check the datasheet for the specific grade you're using rather than assuming. For anaerobic sealants specifically, keep the mating faces close and metal-to-metal; a large gap or a non-metallic surface will stop the product curing properly.
