Loc-Line Lathe Adapters

Loc-Line lathe adapters are the connection components that allow Loc-Line modular coolant hose assemblies to be mounted and positioned on manual and CNC lathes. The Loc-Line system uses ball-and-socket segments that lock together by friction and can be repositioned by hand, allowing the coolant stream to be aimed precisely at the cutting tool tip without tools and without disturbing the machine setup. How Loc-Line Lathe Adapters Work

Loc-Line lathe adapters provide the mechanical interface between the lathe's coolant supply port or the cross-slide and the Loc-Line hose run. The adapter threads onto the coolant supply fitting or mounts to the tool post area, providing a fixed origin point from which the flexible Loc-Line arm extends to the cutting zone. The modular snap-together segments of the hose can be assembled and disassembled by hand, so the coolant arm length, routing, and nozzle direction are fully adjustable without any tools. The snap connection between segments provides enough friction to hold the arm position rigidly under normal coolant flow conditions while still allowing easy hand repositioning when the cutting position changes.

Coolant Delivery for Lathe Operations

Directed coolant delivery is important in turning operations involving stainless steel, titanium, high-temperature alloys, and production turning of steel where heat build-up at the tool tip reduces tool life and compromises surface finish. Correctly aimed coolant floods the chip formation zone at the cutting edge, carrying heat away from the tool and workpiece and clearing chips from the cut. Loc-Line allows the operator to aim the coolant precisely at the insert tip or drill point rather than relying on fixed-position nozzles that may not direct coolant to the active cutting zone when tool positions change.

1/4 Inch and 1/2 Inch System Compatibility

Loc-Line systems are available in 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch segment sizes. The 1/4 inch system suits applications requiring a fine, directed coolant stream in confined areas around the tool and workpiece — compact CNC lathes and precision turning applications. The 1/2 inch system delivers higher coolant volume and is better suited to larger machines, higher material removal rates, and applications where significant chip flushing is required alongside cooling. Lathe adapters are specific to each system size and are not interchangeable between 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch configurations.

Installing and Configuring Loc-Line on a Lathe

The adapter threads into the machine's coolant supply outlet using a standard pipe thread connection. The Loc-Line arm then snaps together from the adapter fitting to the nozzle end in the required length and routing. Nozzle types include standard round nozzles for general coolant delivery, flat fan nozzles for broad coolant coverage, and brush nozzles that combine coolant flow with chip-clearing action.
