Buy Lawn Mower Belts Online in Australia
Lawn mower belts and ride-on mower drive belts wear out — typically every 2-5 years of regular use depending on hours, drive load and exposure to UV. AIMS stocks the Gates BladeRunner premium lawn and garden belt range across all common sections, plus classical V-belts in A, B, 4L and 5L profiles that fit thousands of older mower models. Brands serviced include John Deere, Husqvarna, Cox, Greenfield, Toro, Rover, Honda, Murray, Snapper, MTD, Cub Cadet and others. If you can give us the OE part number or a tape-measure of the old belt, we'll match it.
Common Lawn Mower Belt Sections
Most mower belts fall into one of five section profiles. The section letter (A, B, 4L, 5L, MA, AA) refers to the cross-section dimensions and the load rating.
| Section | Top width | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 4L | 13 mm (1/2") | Light push-mower and small ride-on drive belts |
| 5L | 16-17 mm (5/8") | Medium ride-on PTO and deck drive |
| A / AA | 13 mm | Classical V-belt fits, older ride-on models |
| B | 17 mm | Heavier ride-on PTO and deck drive (commercial) |
| MA | 14 mm | Specialist mower-application profile |
How to Identify Your Lawn Mower Belt
Three ways to identify a replacement belt, in order of reliability:
- OE part number — printed on the original belt or in your mower's parts manual. Most reliable.
- Outside circumference measurement — pull the belt off and measure all the way around the outside. For broken belts, lay it flat and measure end-to-end then add the typical belt-stretch allowance.
- Cross-section profile — measure the top width with a vernier or steel rule (it should match one of the section letters above).
For a step-by-step measurement walk-through, see our Handy Tips for Ride-On Mower Belts guide.
Gates BladeRunner vs Generic V-Belts
Gates BladeRunner is the premium choice and what AIMS recommends for commercial operators. It uses aramid (Kevlar) tensile cord rather than polyester, which handles shock-load drives (blade strikes, sudden engagement of PTO clutches) without stretching or breaking. It also resists oil, heat, ozone and UV better than generic mower belts. Expected service life is 2-3x a generic V-belt under the same load.
For domestic ride-on mowers used occasionally, a standard A or B section classical V-belt can be adequate and saves money. For commercial-use mowers, contractor mowers, and zero-turn machines, BladeRunner is the right call.
