Type 01 Locking Assembly

The Locking Assembly Type 01 is a standard bore-mounted internal locking assembly suitable for general industrial shaft-hub connections. Tightening the bolt ring grips the shaft OD and hub bore simultaneously — no keyway required in shaft or hub.

Torque and Axial Load Capacity

Select the locking assembly size based on both the transmitted torque and axial load from the technical datasheets — not solely on shaft diameter. The bore/shaft diameter determines which assembly fits; the torque and axial load rating determines whether that size is adequate for the application.

Installation Torque — Tighten Evenly

Locking assembly bolts must be tightened evenly (cross-pattern or sequential) to the specified torque to ensure uniform clamping pressure. Uneven tightening causes eccentric clamping that reduces transmitted torque and may cause shaft scoring.

Zero Backlash Advantage

Unlike keyed connections, locking assemblies have zero backlash — the full bore-shaft contact area carries torque by friction without any clearance. This eliminates the fretting wear and impact loading associated with keyway-to-key clearance under reversing or oscillating loads.

Disassembly and Reuse

Locking assemblies can be released and repositioned without shaft or hub damage — unlike interference fits or set-screw collars. This simplifies maintenance alignment adjustments and allows the assembly to be reused after removal, provided it is cleaned and re-lubricated to the manufacturer's specification.
