Dowty Seal Washers
A Dowty seal washer (also known as a bonded seal) consists of a metal outer ring with a rubber lip bonded to the inner face. When the fitting is tightened, the rubber seals against both the port face and the washer's metal ring — providing a reliable hydraulic face seal. Champion Dowty seal washers are available in BSP and metric thread sizes. The rubber compound is typically NBR (nitrile), which is compatible with mineral oils, water, and most hydraulic fluids.
Bonded Seal Washers (CDW)
Champion CDW bonded seal washers are the metric equivalent of the Dowty seal — used on metric-ported hydraulic components, pumps and valves. They are specified where the port face is machined to the metric standard for bonded seal grooves. Metric assortment kits (91 pieces) and master kits (173 pieces) provide a ready supply of the most common sizes.
Copper Sealing Washers
Champion copper sealing washers are used as soft-metal crush seals in hydraulic banjo bolt connections, drain plugs and fuel system fittings. Copper anneals and deforms slightly under compression — conforming to minor surface irregularities and providing a reliable seal. Copper sealing washers should be replaced whenever the banjo bolt or drain plug is removed.
