Choosing a spill kit

Start with what you are likely to spill. Oil and fuel kits suit workshops, depots and vehicles. General purpose kits suit water-based fluids and mixed use, and hazchem kits suit chemical spills. Check the kit's absorbent type against the liquid on your site, because an oil and fuel absorbent is not the right choice for every chemical.

Then choose the size and format. Small kits suit a vehicle or a workbench, and wheelie bin kits in 120L and 240L sit at a loading dock or storage area where a larger response may be needed. Keep the kit close to where spills are most likely and make sure people know where it is.

Always check the data sheet. Confirm the absorbent type and what the kit contains against the liquids on your site before you order.

Spill kit FAQs

What is the difference between oil and fuel, general purpose and hazchem spill kits?

The names describe the liquids the absorbent is intended for. Oil and fuel kits are for oils, fuels and other hydrocarbons, general purpose kits are for water-based and mixed fluids, and hazchem kits are for chemical spills. Check the kit description and data sheet against the liquids on your site.

What size spill kit do I need?

Choose by the largest spill you expect and where the kit will sit. We list kits from compact ute kits through to 240L wheelie bins. A smaller kit suits a vehicle or bench and a wheelie bin kit suits a loading dock or storage area.

Do you have a spill kit for vehicles?

Yes. The SpillFix compact spill kit for utes and the Alemlube Quick Response 60L satchel are listed, along with the SpillFix small spill kit in a bag.

What are minibooms for?

Minibooms are small absorbent booms used to soak up and contain drips and small spills. We list oil and fuel and general purpose minibooms from Accumax. Check the data sheet for size and absorbency.

Do you sell absorbent granules?

Yes. We list DrySorb clay absorbent granules in 20kg and Garrick natural zeolite absorbent in 22L (15kg), plus MAXSorb oil and fuel pads and SpillFix coir organic absorbent.

Where do I find bunded pallets?
