Industrial Tape + Accessory Selection — Quick Reference

Industrial tapes = everyday adhesive consumables across AU TRADE + PACKAGING + ELECTRICAL + workshop. From masking + duct + electrical insulation + double-sided + specialty barrier tapes — right tape matched to application + substrate + temperature + adhesion.

Tape Type Best For
Masking Tape (Painters) Paint masking + temporary marking
Duct Tape (Cloth) Heavy repair + general workshop
Electrical Tape (PVC) Wire insulation + electrical work
Self-Amalgamating Tape Waterproof + outdoor electrical
Double-Sided Tape Mounting + display + see double-sided tape guide
VHB (Very High Bond) Tape Structural bonding — replaces fasteners
Hi-Vis / Reflective Tape Safety + visibility — see reflective tape
Anti-Slip Tape Slip prevention — see anti-slip surfaces
Strapping Tape (Reinforced) Packaging + heavy bundling
Tape Dispensers Workshop volume application

Critical: Match TAPE to TEMPERATURE + SUBSTRATE + DURATION. PVC electrical tape degrades in UV; masking tape leaves residue if left too long; VHB = STRUCTURAL once cured. Surface clean + dry essential for adhesion. Brands: 3M, Tesa, Scapa. Companion: adhesives + sealants + tapes, sealants, hand tools.

Industrial Tapes and Accessories for Australian Trade and Packaging Operations

Industrial tapes cover the everyday adhesive consumables used across Australian trade, packaging, electrical, and maintenance work — packaging tape for box sealing, masking tape for paint preparation, electrical tape for cable insulation, duct tape for everything else. The right tape matched to the application makes the difference between a job that holds and one that fails. AIMS Industrial supplies industrial tapes and dispensers in the formats Australian customers actually need.

The tape categories we stock

  • Packaging tape — clear, brown, and printed tape for carton sealing and packaging
  • Masking tape — paint masking, surface protection, and trade applications
  • Electrical (PVC) tape — cable insulation, identification, and electrical work
  • Duct tape (cloth tape) — heavy-duty general-purpose tape for repairs and bundling
  • Double-sided tape — for mounting, bonding, and assembly without visible fastening
  • Reflective and warning tape — see reflective tape
  • Anti-slip and hazard tape — see safety tapes and labels
  • Specialty tapes — high-temperature, chemical-resistant, foil, and specific industrial applications

Tape dispensers and accessories

  • Hand-held tape dispensers — for packaging tape and general use
  • Bench-mounted dispensers — for fixed packaging stations
  • Pistol-grip packaging tape dispensers — for high-volume box sealing
  • Cutter blades and replacement parts — for keeping dispensers in service

Choosing the right tape

  • Carton sealing — clear or brown packaging tape; printed tape for branding
  • Paint masking — low-tack masking tape for delicate surfaces, standard for general work
  • Electrical insulation — PVC electrical tape rated for the voltage and temperature of the application
  • General repair and bundling — duct tape for short-term and rough applications
  • Mounting and assembly — double-sided tape for permanent and semi-permanent mounting
  • High-temperature applications — specialty foil and silicone tapes for engine bay, exhaust, and process work

Packaging tape — width and adhesion

Packaging tape comes in standard widths of 36mm, 48mm, 72mm, and 96mm. The 48mm width is the workshop standard for typical carton sealing. Heavier cartons and cold-temperature applications benefit from premium acrylic or hot-melt adhesive tapes that maintain stick on cold surfaces; cheap solvent-based tapes lose adhesion below 5°C. For Australian winter shipping and refrigerated logistics, premium tape adhesion matters.

Electrical tape — voltage rating

PVC electrical tape is rated by maximum voltage and temperature. Standard PVC tape is rated to 600V and 80°C — adequate for typical 230V mains work in normal conditions. For high-temperature or higher-voltage applications, specialised electrical tapes are required (silicone-based for very high temperature, vulcanising rubber tape for high-voltage cable splicing). Don't substitute standard PVC for high-temperature applications — the tape softens and fails.

Brands stocked at AIMS

HyStik covers the broader Australian-distributed tape range. Other approved brands fill specific roles in the broader range. For specific brand requirements or specialty applications, contact our team for current options.

Storage and shelf life

Industrial tapes have shelf life — typically 12-24 months from manufacture for adhesive-based tapes. Older stock may have reduced adhesion or harder-to-unwind rolls. Store tapes in cool dry conditions away from direct sunlight; UV exposure and high temperatures degrade tape adhesives faster than ordinary aging.
