Choosing a warning sign

Use a warning sign where a hazard could cause injury and people need to take care. Where the hazard could cause death or serious injury, a danger sign is the stronger choice, and to tell people what to wear or do, see mandatory and PPE signs. If you are unsure which level applies, base the choice on your site risk assessment. Check the size and material options on each listing against where the sign will be mounted.

Always check the data sheet. Confirm size, material and wording suit your site, and check any requirements that apply to your workplace, before you order.

Warning sign FAQs

What is a warning sign used for?

A warning sign tells people about a hazard that could cause injury, such as hot surfaces, vehicles or chemicals, so they can take care. It does not tell them what to do. Use a mandatory or prohibition sign for that.

When should I use a danger sign instead?

Danger signs are for serious hazards that could cause death or severe injury, such as high voltage or confined spaces. Base the choice on your site risk assessment. See our danger signs.

Do you have signs for chemical storage and biohazards?

Yes. The range includes Chemical Storage Area, Acid, Corrosive, Biological Hazard, Biohazard Authorised Personnel Only and Biohazard Sharps Receptacle signs.

Do you have vehicle and forklift warning signs?

Yes. Listings include Beware Of Vehicles and Warning Road Sign. For forklift-specific wording, also see our danger signs and UltraTuff signs.
