AAP 14 in Resilient Seat Gate Valve, Clockwise, Gear Operated, Table C | VRSCC350C-GO

This AAP clockwise resilient seat gate valve has a gear operator, a ductile iron body and Table C flanges. It is supplied in one size, 14 in (350 mm).

A resilient seat gate valve closes with a rubber-covered wedge that seals against the body, which keeps the bore free of the pockets a metal-seated valve has and is why it is widely used in water mains. A wedge gate valve moves a wedge-shaped gate between two body seats using a spindle, so when it is fully open the fluid has a straight, uninterrupted passage with very little pressure drop. AAP says it is not recommended for flow regulation and should only be used fully open or fully closed.

AAP gives a maximum working temperature of 40 degrees C and a cold working pressure of 1,600 kPa (16 bar), with the design to AS 2638.2, flange drilling to AS 4087 (Table C) and AS 2129 (Table E), socket ends to AS 2280 and coating thickness to AS 4158 (all manufacturer-stated). AAP notes that DN50 and DN65 are not covered by AS 2638.2, and the 2 in and 2-1/2 in Table C valves are marked as not certified. The body and bonnet are epoxy coated ductile iron, the wedge is ductile iron with bonded rubber, the stem is 431 stainless steel and the seals are EPDM. AAP lists the range for water, sewage and neutral liquids and identifies direction by cap colour, red for clockwise and white for anticlockwise (manufacturer-stated).

AAP lists certification and water authority approvals for this range in its catalogue, including suitability for drinking water. AIMS has not been able to confirm that those certificates are current, and AAP's published water authority approvals are dated 2012, so ask us for the current certificate before you specify the valve for a water authority or drinking water job. For buried installation AAP recommends following AS/NZS 2566.2 (manufacturer-stated). AAP lists the clockwise gear operated valve in 14 in, 16 in, 18 in and 24 in, and this is the 14 in (part number VRSCC350C-GO).
