Flap discs combine grinding and finishing in one product — overlapping abrasive flaps conform to the workpiece surface for a smoother finish than grinding wheels.

Selecting the right option
Grit selection follows the same logic as sandpaper — 40–60 grit for stock removal and weld dressing; 80–120 grit for blending and surface finishing. Zirconia alumina grit outlasts aluminium oxide for steel grinding. Flap wheels suit curved surfaces; flat flap discs suit flat surfaces and weld toes.
