Selecting the right option
UNC is the coarse thread version of the Unified inch system. Common sizes run from #4 through 1". HSS suits standard steels and aluminium; HSS-Co is required for stainless and high-tensile alloys. Match drill size to the tap using a published UNC tap drill chart.
