Mild Steel Welding Rods
Mild steel welding rods are filler rods used to lay weld metal onto mild and low-alloy steels. For TIG welding (the process this rod is built for), the rod is fed by hand into the arc — no flux, no shielding gas from the rod itself, with shielding handled by the TIG torch. Bossweld R60 is a copper-coated mild steel filler rod classified to AWS A5.2 R60 — the carbon steel rod specification for oxyfuel gas welding, also widely used as a TIG filler for mild and low-alloy steels. It is alloyed with silicon and manganese for weld strength and toughness, supplied as a 1 kg handy pack. For dedicated TIG (GTAW) work where porosity matters, an AWS A5.18 ER70S-2 or ER70S-6 rod is the GTAW-specific alternative.
R60 Mild Steel TIG Welding Rod is a copper-coated, low-alloy filler rod formulated for strong, high-strength welds on mild and low-alloy steels without the need for flux. Manufactured to AWS A5.2 R60, it delivers reliable performance across fabrication, pressure line and heavy repair applications.
