Excision 62027610-4575 Band Saw Blade 27 x 0.9mm, 4575mm

Excision Bi-Alfa Cobalt M42 band saw blade, 27mm wide, 0.9mm thick, 6/10 TPI, in 48 lengths from 4575mm to 5770mm. It is a bi-metal blade with HSS-M42 cutting tips, made for general machining of steel.

The tooth tips are HSS-M42 with very hard, evenly distributed carbides, formed during hardening and tempering, which give the blade its high wear resistance. The tips have a martensitic structure and a high cobalt content, which gives excellent heat resistance and toughness and reduces wear at high sawing speeds. A high chromium backing lets the blade withstand flexing stresses, tension and blade guide pressure. The premium M42 tips suit general machining of steel up to 44 HRC. 6/10 TPI is a combi (variable) pitch: the first figure is the largest distance between tooth tips and the second the smallest distance within one group, which widens the range of work the blade can handle and reduces vibration. For solid bar, 6/10 TPI suits material 16 to 30mm in diameter.

Choosing the right option

Pick the length your saw needs. To measure it, set the wheels about the middle of their adjustment range, measure the distance between the wheel centres (D) and the radius of each wheel (R1 and R2), then work out the length in mm as (R1 x 3.1416) + (R2 x 3.1416) + (2 x D). Each part number is the base code, a dash and the length in mm.

Choose a TPI that suits the thickness of the material you are cutting, because the wrong TPI dramatically shortens blade life. For metal, the general rule of thumb is 5 to 7 teeth in the cut at any time, and band speeds for bi-metal blades run from 80 to 90 m/min on construction and machining steel down to 15 to 25 m/min on heat resistant steels.
