Kitten Ultra Cutting Compound 325g
Available
Kitten Ultra Cutting Compound is a hand-applied cutting compound from CRC. CRC describes it as designed to remove heavily weathered layers of paintwork and restore poor surfaces, and says it is also useful for removing old waxes, tar and scratches.
CRC's technical data sheet says to apply it to a cloth pad or the supplied sponge, never directly onto the surface, and to follow it with a polish. CRC names Kitten Ultra Liquid Polishing Wax and Kitten Ultra Polishing Wax No.1 for that final step.

Selecting the right option
Follow the cutting step with a polish. CRC names Kitten Ultra Liquid Polishing Wax 450ml and Kitten Ultra Cream Polishing Wax No.1 19190 - 250g for that job.
For paintwork in poor or heavily weathered condition, CRC also describes Kitten Ultra Cream Cut & Polish No.2 19195 - 250g and Kitten Ultra Liquid Cut & Polish 19186 - 450ml.
Using it
Wash the car and dry it with a chamois. Apply to a clean open-weave cloth pad or the supplied sponge, never directly onto the surface. Use sparingly, as too much retards the cutting action.
Work a small area in straight back-and-forth strokes, then finish with a clean dry cloth. The product can be thinned with water. Protect the finish afterwards with a polish.
CRC's technical data sheet describes it as suitable for hand rubbing and does not describe machine application.
Storage and handling
Keep the tin airtight. CRC's technical data sheet gives a conditional warranty of 2 years from date of manufacture.
Limits and safety
Signal word: Danger. The SDS classifies this product as a flammable liquid and vapour (Category 3) that may be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Flash point is 23 °C to 60.5 °C. For sea and air transport the SDS lists UN 1263, Class 3, packing group III, paint or paint related material, and states it is not regulated for transport by road and rail because it meets the requirements for a liquid that does not sustain combustion. CRC's technical data sheet says it is not recommended for paintwork in good condition or on newer cars with metallic paint or clear coat finishes, must not be applied to hot surfaces or in direct sunlight, and must not be used on unpainted surfaces or plastic trim. Keep away from oxidising agents (for example hypochlorites) and acids (for example nitric acid). Read the safety data sheet before use.
