Mack Monterey Safety Glasses, Polarised Smoke (MKMNTEREYPB3R00)

The Mack Monterey is a pair of safety glasses with a matt black frame and anti-scratch lenses that block 99% UV. The polarised smoke and green lenses also carry an anti-glare coating, and the photochromatic grey lens darkens in bright light and clears in lower light, so the wearer does not need a separate pair of sunglasses (manufacturer-stated). The photochromatic lens darkens in up to 18 seconds and clears in about 35 seconds (manufacturer-stated).

Mack states the glasses are tested and approved to AS/NZS 1337.1:2010 for medium impact protection, marked with the letter I on the lens (manufacturer-stated). Standards Australia published a newer standard, AS 16321.1:2026, on 29/05/26. Contact AIMS if your site requires a particular edition. Choose the lens tint for the light conditions. Tinted lenses are for outdoor use and are not suitable indoors or in low light, and a clear lens is the one to use indoors. The photochromatic lens is not a substitute for a clear lens indoors. Check the impact marking on the lens before use, and contact AIMS if you need the standard approval for your site.

Mack lists applications as general industry, construction, agriculture, mining and leisure (manufacturer-stated). Beaver packs the polarised green and photochromatic grey 12 to a box and 120 to a carton, and the polarised smoke as a retail pack of 1 with 125 to a carton (manufacturer-stated). Safety glasses guard against flying particles and are not a substitute for goggles or a face shield where there is liquid splash, fine dust or a molten metal hazard. Replace glasses that are scratched, cracked or loose.

These manufacturer figures are from Mack's Monterey data sheet and Beaver's PPE catalogue Vol 2. Mack's sources give different figures for UV and for the photochromatic activation time, and the lower UV figure and the slower time are used.
