Selecting the right option

Select the boring bar diameter and length based on the bore diameter and depth being machined. The boring bar must be rigid enough to resist deflection at the cutting depth required — smaller bars over long overhangs will chatter. Confirm the tool bit insert size fits the bar's cartridge.
