Mitutoyo 118-101 Sheet Metal Micrometer, 100mm

Mitutoyo Series 118 sheet metal micrometers have a deep frame, so you can measure the thickness of sheet metal and rubber parts further in from the edge than a standard micrometer allows. Sheet metal shops, fabricators, toolrooms and quality control teams use them to check plate, sheet and gaskets. They are analog, with a ratchet stop for constant force.

All three models measure 0 - 25mm. The difference is how deep the frame reaches: the 100mm, 150mm and 300mm options. Graduation is the smallest step marked on the scale. Accuracy is a separate figure: it is the biggest error Mitutoyo allows, so do not read a fine graduation as a promise of that accuracy. Pick 100mm or 150mm for most sheet work, and 300mm to reach well into a large sheet. The 150mm model has spherical measuring faces, which suit curved or rounded surfaces.
