The CRW1 is an SKF CR Seal with a metal outer case and a wave-profile sealing lip, for oil or grease lubricated applications.

An oil seal has two main parts: an outer cylindrical casing that is a press fit in the housing bore, and a sealing lip that runs on the shaft. The lip is what keeps oil or grease in and contamination out at the point where the shaft passes through the housing.

The sealing material is FKM (fluoroelastomer), also sold as Viton. Check that the FKM material suits the lubricant and the operating temperature of your application before ordering.

Check the shaft diameter, housing bore diameter and seal width against your application before ordering, and use the dimensions in the sizes table above. The shaft surface the lip runs on must be clean and free from scoring. If the shaft is worn at the seal position, a shaft repair sleeve fixes this without replacing the shaft: SKF Speedi-Sleeve.
