SPB Pilot Bore V-Pulley, 80 mm PCD, 1 Groove, 10 mm Starter Hole

These cast iron SPB pilot bore V-pulleys suit B and SPB V-belts. The range covers 12 models from 80 to 150 mm pitch circle diameter (PCD), with 1 to 2 grooves.

A pilot bore pulley has a small starter hole through the hub. You machine the hole out to your shaft size and cut a keyway. The starter hole size, hub diameter and overall length are listed for each model.

The PCD is the diameter the belt runs on and sets the speed ratio of the drive. Use one groove for each belt.

Selecting and fitting

Choose the pulley by belt section (SPB), pitch circle diameter and number of grooves. Divide the driven PCD by the driver PCD to find the speed ratio.

The starter hole is machined out to your finished bore size, so check the hub leaves enough wall around the bore and keyway. Machine the starter hole to your shaft size with the pulley held true, and cut the keyway to suit. Check the finished bore leaves enough hub wall for the keyway. Fix the pulley to the shaft by the method your drive uses, and align it with its mating pulley before fitting the belts.

Set belt tension to the belt maker's recommendation, and check it again after a few hours of running.
