Stahlwille SW240 8 mm FastRatch Ratchet Wrench, 121.4 mm Long

The Stahlwille 240 FastRatch is a range of ratchet wrenches for hexagon union nuts: 10 sizes from 8 mm (5/16") to 19 mm (3/4"), from 121.4 to 238.5 mm long. Each wrench has a single head that carries both the metric and the imperial size, so one wrench turns both metric and imperial nuts and bolts. The wrenches are stainless steel, hardened and tempered (manufacturer-stated).

Stahlwille describes the FastRatch as three tools in one: a ring spanner, an open-end spanner and a ratchet. The ring opens with a thumb-opening aid so the wrench can be fitted sideways, and the jointed jaws with a spring system clamp onto the hexagon. An arrow marking on the head shows the direction of operation (manufacturer-stated). Stahlwille calls it particularly suitable for union nuts and lists brake lines, tie rods, exhaust gas temperature sensors, diesel fuel lines and air-conditioning pressure sensors among the applications (manufacturer-stated). The datasheets print no tooth count, torque rating or instruction to extend or strike it, so use it as a hand wrench. Weights are shown only where Stahlwille's datasheet, its website and the 2017 brochure agree and fit the size trend, and are a dash elsewhere.

Selecting the right option

Pick the size by the nut: each head shows a metric and an imperial size, for example 13 mm and 1/2". For open-end flare nut spanners see the metric flare nut spanners and the imperial flare nut spanners, for the flexi-joint type the 29 flexi-joint double ended spanners, and for ratchet ring spanners on other fasteners the 25 metric double ended ratchet ring spanners.
