Sutton #11 (4.85mm) Blue Bullet Panel Drill Shortie - HSS

The Sutton D124 Blue Bullet panel drill is a single-ended HSS drill with a blue steam-oxide finish, a 135° standard point and a rigid design for through-hole drilling. It is made for rivet holes in sheet metal fabrication, in 4 sizes from Ø3.18 mm to Ø4.85 mm.

Panel drills are for shallow holes no deeper than 1-1/4 × the drill diameter (d1). Supplied in packs of 10.

• Rivet holes in sheet metal fabrication, flat and curved panels.
• Through-hole drilling in thin material, within the 1-1/4 × d1 depth limit.
• Designation: Ferrous materials.
• Materials rated Optimal: non-alloy steel, about 0.15 %C, annealed; non-alloy steel, about 0.45 %C, annealed; non-alloy steel, about 0.45 %C, quenched and tempered (250 HB); and low-alloy steel (under 5% alloying elements), annealed.
• Also rated Effective: non-alloy steel, about 0.75 %C (annealed and quenched and tempered) (some grades); low-alloy steel, quenched and tempered (275 to 350 HB) (some grades); high-alloy and tool steel; austenitic stainless steel; duplex stainless steel; grey cast iron (some grades); nodular cast iron (some grades); and chilled cast iron.

Finish

Blue (steam oxide). The blue steam-oxide finish is for ferrous metals: it helps prevent chip build-up on the cutting edges (especially in carbon steels), the oxide layer protects the surface and it carries lubricant well.
