The Sutton D306 imperial solid carbide drills are 3 x D straight flute drills in 8 sizes from 1/16" (1.59 mm) to 1/2" (12.7 mm), with a 140° Form C (facet) point. They are made from solid carbide (VHM) with a TiCN finish and are used for drilling cast irons.
The rigid twist drill with straight flutes is designed for increased strength and chip control, and is suitable for cast irons. The TiCN coating is designed for longer tool life. The point is a 140° Form C (facet) with an m7 drill diameter tolerance, the shank diameter equals the drill diameter with a -0.025 tolerance, and the maximum drilling depth is 3 x the drill diameter.

Using the drills
- Hold the drill in a collet or chuck that grips the plain shank accurately and runs true.
- Keep the hole depth to 3 x the drill diameter or less.
- Carbide is brittle: avoid side loads and keep the workpiece clamped rigidly.
