Sutton M4293340 NPT 1"-11-1/2 Button Die, 2" OD - Carbon Alloy Steel

The Sutton M429 is a carbon alloy steel NPT (National Pipe Taper) button die for cutting a new male (external) NPT thread on studs. It is a solid round die, 2" (50.8 mm) OD, in 6 sizes from 1/8" to 1" NPT, that fits into an adjustable guide or plain die stock handle.

The cutting teeth provide a general purpose thread. Carbon alloy steel threading tools are not suitable for precision, safety or critical threads: they are for general purpose and DIY use only. Applications include DIY, trade, automotive, plumbing, metalworking and MRO work.

Using the button die

• Use a guide or die stock that matches the 2" OD of the die.
• Start the die square and turn forward, backing off regularly to break the chip.
• Use a cutting fluid suited to the material being threaded.
