Sutton M4482540 1"-10 BSF Hexagon Die Nut, 52 mm AF - Carbon Alloy Steel

The Sutton M448 is a carbon alloy steel hexagon die nut for cleaning and resizing existing damaged BSF (British Standard Fine) threads. It comes in 9 sizes, 3/16" to 1", with hex sizes from 18 to 52 mm AF, and can be turned with a wrench or socket where space is limited.

The hexagon die is best suited for maintenance and repair work. Because the die can be used with a wrench or socket, it works in limited space. Carbon alloy steel threading tools are not suitable for precision, safety or critical threads: they are for general purpose and DIY use only. Applications include DIY, trade, automotive, plumbing, metalworking and MRO work.

Sizes and item numbers

Hex size is across flats (AF): use a wrench or socket of the same size.

Using the die nut

• Clean dirt and rust from the damaged thread before starting.
• Start the die square on the thread, turning forward and backing off regularly to break the chip.
• Use a cutting fluid suited to the material being threaded.
• Die nuts are designed to clean and resize existing threads. For a new thread on plain stock, use a button die from the threading dies and sets range.
• Use for general purpose and DIY threads only.
