Sutton M5533300 M33 x 3.5 Metric Coarse Button Die 3" OD - High Speed Steel

The Sutton M553 is a high speed steel (HSS) button die for cutting a new male (external) metric coarse thread on studs. It is a solid round die, 3" (76.2 mm) OD, in 7 sizes, M30 to M48, that fits into an adjustable guide or plain die stock handle.

Made from high speed steel for longer tool life. Suitable for cleaning existing threads in tough applications. Designed to produce more accurate threads than carbon dies. The cutting teeth are designed to provide a precise thread. Applications include DIY, trade, automotive, plumbing, metalworking and MRO work.

Using the button die

• Use a guide or die stock that matches the 3" OD of the die.
• Chamfer the end of the stud or rod and start the die square, turning forward and backing off regularly to break the chip.
• Use a cutting fluid suited to the material being threaded.
