Sutton M5652540 1"-12 UNF Button Die 2" OD - High Speed Steel (HSS)

The Sutton M565 is a high speed steel (HSS) button die for cutting a new male (external) UNF (Unified National Fine) thread on studs. It is a solid round die, 2" (50.8 mm) OD, in 5 sizes, 9/16" to 1", that fits into an adjustable guide or plain die stock handle.

Made from high speed steel for longer tool life. Suitable for cleaning existing threads in tough applications. Designed to produce more accurate threads than carbon dies. The cutting teeth are designed to provide a precise thread. Applications include DIY, trade, automotive, plumbing, metalworking and MRO work.

Using the button die

• Use a guide or die stock that matches the 2" OD of the die.
• Chamfer the end of the stud or rod and start the die square, turning forward and backing off regularly to break the chip.
• Use a cutting fluid suited to the material being threaded.
