The Sutton T423 is a spiral point (gun) tap (intermediate chamfer) for UNC threads, made from premium grade high speed steel (HSSE) with a blue steam-oxide finish. This listing covers 14 sizes from #4 x 40 TPI to 1 x 8 TPI.
The gun (spiral point) nose curls the chip forward, ahead of the tap and out of the hole, so chip clogging is avoided and coolant can flow without problems. It suits through holes. The tap has a intermediate chamfer (Form D, 3.5 to 5 threads on the lead), generally for through holes.
The tap is built to ISO 529: short machine tap construction.

Design features
- Premium grade high speed steel (HSSE). The vanadium grade gives high wear resistance and toughness for most tapping applications.
- Blue steam-oxide finish for ferrous metals; it helps prevent chip build-up on the cutting edges and carries lubricant well.
- 2 to 4 flutes, depending on size.
- Intermediate chamfer (Form D), generally for through holes.
- ISO 529 construction, short machine tap construction.
