These cast iron taper lock V-pulleys are clearance stock. The 10 models cover SPZ, SPA, SPB and SPC V-belts, from 85 to 236 mm pitch circle diameter (PCD), with 1 to 5 grooves.

Each pulley has a tapered bore that takes a taper lock bush. The bush is machined to your shaft size and keyway, and locks the pulley on the shaft when its screws are tightened. Bushes are listed separately on AIMS. The belt section, bush series and dimensions for each model are listed below.

Selecting and fitting

Choose the pulley by belt section (SPZ, SPA, SPB and SPC), pitch circle diameter and number of grooves. Divide the driven PCD by the driver PCD to find the speed ratio.

Then choose the bush. The bush series in the table is the series that fits that pulley, and the maximum bore is the largest shaft that bush takes. Where two series are listed, either fits. Order a bush of that series with the bore and keyway you need: see the metric cast iron taper lock bushes or imperial cast iron taper lock bushes.

Fit the bush in the pulley hub, slide the assembly onto the shaft and align the pulley with its mating pulley. Tighten the bush screws evenly to the bush manufacturer's torque. Check the two pulleys are in line with a straight edge before fitting the belts.

Set belt tension to the belt maker's recommendation, and check it again after a few hours of running.
