Thor TH704 Solid Copper Mallet, 955 g, 38 mm Face, Plastic Handle

Thor solid copper mallets with plastic handles come in three sizes, TH704, TH705 and TH706: from 955 g (2.1 lb) with a 38 mm face to 1745 g (3.8 lb) with a 50 mm face. The heads are made from 99.9% pure extruded electrolytic copper rod (manufacturer-stated).

Thor says the cylindrical copper head gives a firm positive blow without the risk of damage to expensive components (manufacturer-stated).

Weights, face diameters and lengths are per the Thor Product Brochure 2022 (p8). The 2017 range lists slightly different weights (950 g, 1330 g and 1780 g), so the figures here are the newer ones.

Selecting the right option

Choose by face diameter: 38 mm (TH704), 44 mm (TH705) or 50 mm (TH706). Weight rises with the face, from 955 g to 1745 g, so the larger sizes deliver more weight behind the blow but are heavier to swing.
