Wiha SoftFinish® VDE-insulated screwdrivers meet IEC 60900 for live-panel work rated to 1,000 V AC / 1,500 V DC. Every blade is individually tested to 10,000 V AC across a seven-stage production protocol before leaving the factory. The CrVMo blade is fully encapsulated in a dual-layer insulation sleeve, and the SoftFinish® handle adds a gripping outer layer — providing protection and comfort in one tool.
Where this tool is used
- Licensed electricians working in live LV switchboards and MCCs — IEC 60900 compliance is mandatory under AS/NZS 4836 safe-working-on-or-near-low-voltage-electrical-equipment.
- Electrical testing and commissioning on 230/400 V systems — VDE tools are required where isolation cannot be confirmed before fastener access.

Selecting the right option
Confirm the voltage rating of the panel before selecting tools — IEC 60900 covers up to 1,000 V AC which is standard for Australian LV systems. Match blade profile to terminal screw type. For full live-panel kits, Wiha offers matched VDE sets covering Phillips and slotted in the common sizes. Never use damaged insulation — inspect before each use.
