Automotive Lifting Tools
AIMS Industrial stocks automotive lifting tools for workshop and mobile vehicle maintenance — trolley jacks, bottle jacks, axle stands and vehicle positioning equipment for safely lifting and supporting cars, light trucks, trailers and mobile plant. Correct vehicle lifting equipment is a fundamental safety requirement for any maintenance task that requires access beneath a vehicle. Using correct-rated lifting equipment and always supporting the vehicle on stands before commencing under-vehicle work are the non-negotiable safety rules that apply to every lifting operation.
Trolley Jacks (Floor Jacks)
Trolley jacks (floor jacks) are the standard workshop lifting tool — a low-profile rolling hydraulic jack that slides under the vehicle, engages the lift point, and raises the vehicle with a pumping handle. Trolley jacks are available in capacities from 1.5 tonne for light vehicle use through to 3 tonne for SUVs, light trucks and vans. Low-profile racing jacks with reduced minimum height are used for sports cars and lowered vehicles with minimal ground clearance. The rapid lift feature on quality trolley jacks raises the saddle to the vehicle contact point quickly before the pumping stroke engages the load, reducing the number of handle strokes required for a full lift.
Bottle Jacks
Bottle jacks are compact hydraulic jacks that provide high lifting capacity in a small footprint — 2 tonne to 20 tonne capacities are common in workshop and field service applications. The upright cylinder design makes bottle jacks particularly useful for lifting large trucks, agricultural equipment and machinery where a floor jack cannot access the lift point, and for pressing and pushing operations in panel beating and body repair. Bottle jacks are standard equipment in service kits for trucks and heavy plant.
Axle Stands (Jack Stands)
Axle stands are the critical safety component in any vehicle lifting operation — the vehicle must be transferred from the jack to rated axle stands before any person works under or around the raised vehicle. Axle stands support the vehicle at a fixed height regardless of hydraulic pressure, preventing the catastrophic drop that occurs if a hydraulic jack seal fails while a person is under the vehicle. Axle stands are available in 1 tonne to 6 tonne per pair ratings to suit vehicles from passenger cars through to light trucks.
Safe Lifting Practice
Always consult the vehicle manufacturer’s lifting points before jacking. Never exceed the rated capacity of the lifting equipment. Always use axle stands — never rely on a jack alone. Ensure the vehicle is on level ground and the handbrake is applied before lifting. For help selecting the right capacity lifting equipment for your vehicle type, contact our team.
