What is a Micro-V Belt?

A Micro-V belt (also called a multi-ribbed belt, ribbed belt or poly-V belt) uses multiple longitudinal V-shaped ribs running the full length of the belt to drive multiple accessory pulleys from a single serpentine path. This design replaced the multi-belt accessory drives of older vehicles with a single belt driving the alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, water pump, fan and other accessories simultaneously. Micro-V belts provide higher efficiency, lower vibration and more compact packaging than equivalent multi-belt arrangements.
